What are the key reasons IT needs to be part of Corporate Strategy and Business Strategy conversations?

Strategy -

IT has a very privileged vantage point in an organization. Unlike many other functions, we know of all the technological initiatives happening across the company at any given point of time. In addition to that, we have deep institutional knowledge on the success and failures of these initiatives and can speak intelligently about it.

Corporate and Business Strategy conversations are severely hampered if IT is not at the table. Strategy is only effective if one has the ability to operationalize it and IT teams are your operational experts.

We have intimate knowledge of a company’s systems and the ability to provide agile insights and execution. Any strategy discussion without IT input will hamper the efficiency of decision making within a company.

@yousuf great insight! This way could also imply the IT departement as a liability or single point of failure. How would you defend against such argument?
