These days, what is the interviewing process like for CIO candidates?

Top Answer : In my experience the interviewing process is not a problem. What I find very dissapointing is that most of the time you are left in the void waiting for news. Even worst, when the process is over and you are not selected the headhunters never give you feedback unless you push them to. I think a good hh keeps in touch and give you feedback about the process so you can work on your weak points.

I recently went through the process and found that the interview portion was pretty similar to previous interview styles except now it was all conducted via Zoom Panels and not in person.  It's becoming more and more focused on strategic or operational focused.

A large Fortune 100 company I know wouldn't inform candidates quickly because they lost 2 candidates before they even started the job.  Offers were accepted and in the last case the announcement was going out shortly and they changed their minds to decline, so the 3rd choice actually got the job.  3rd candidate was good, better than past two CIOs that had been there for years, so be patient.  The bigger the company the more complicated and lengthy the process.
