What would the ideal ratio of the number of Enterprise Architects (EA) vs. Solution Architects (SA) in a medium to large corporation?

Depends on what the organization does and how it utilises tech. There should always be at least one person performing the role of ea. . This maybe absorbed into another role (like a CTO), If there is a lot of development and/or integration going on then there should be at least one SA as well. The more development you do, the more SAs you will need. But you may not need more EAs. 1 can still be sufficient if their role is clearly defined and there are agreed principles in place

One designated EA, with his/her/their own team, (3-5) with one SA + team for each major solution type (e.g. Cloud, CRM, ERP, Edge..)
