How has the role of the CIO evolved post COVID?  How does the CDO role fit in here?

While there are likely a number of nuances I won't be addressing with just 3 bullets, here are my thoughts: 1. Like every leader, dealing with a more distributed and less protected (no standard facility or technology footprint) workforce (Work from Anywhere WFA) is going to continue to be a challenge. Looking for people & technology innovation in how a distributed work force functions more effectively will be a top opportunity space.  2. Pushing the enterprise vision forward into a digital transformation journey has become more important than ever. Starting early with general C-Suite leadership vision and messaging will be crucial.  3. The CDO (if you have one) will become more important with each passing day. As WFA expands and technologies associated with "edge" or IoT proliferate the demands to be ahead of the curve through data utilization will only expand.

My take is that the CIO role has become even more strategic, invited to participate in many more conversations then were happening pre-pandemic.  Not sure how the CDO fits in, other than to say that "digital transformation" (or some other descriptive that best describes a change in modality and culture change in how we do business) was accelerated because of COVID.
